Thanks so much for all your support over the last few weeks. Well, years but especially as it's a very hard time at the moment. I wanted to update you as to what's going on after my blubbing desperation last month (the upshot, I can't keep going as we are financially & energetically so are facing closing).
If you're familiar with me or Food for Thought you'll be able to imagine how painful this is. The accompanying sick feeling, & knotted in my stomach have been deeeeeelightful.
But these are our options:
- push hard until 3rd September, see if it makes a difference & whether there's hope. If so, move forward with investment offers I've received & develop our services
- take our landlord's kind offer of ending our contract early, give our notice in September & close in October
I'm concentrating on the first in order to appease that sick/knotted feeling & get to sleep some times!
Why the oversharing? Well it's my MO baby. But because I wouldn't be where I am without you, whatever happens, & if we want to continue then Alice & I need your help to get the word out.
I know that we still need this community. Reducing plastic is only the start. In a time where there's so much to be fearful of, it's wonderful & absolutely imperative that we safeguard the things that bring us joy, community, belonging, empowerment & all the other beautiful things we achieve by being part of Food for Thought.
You'll notice events going on, trials of click & collect & delivery (keep your eyes peeled tomorrow!) & other exciting collaborations aimed at spreading the refill love, educating ourselves about the environment, wellbeing & all that splendiferous jazz.
HELP US:
Share Food for Thought with everyone. Don't be greedy, I know it's tempting but tell everyone. We'll still love you.
Tell your loved ones, your not so loved ones, tell your colleagues, tell the hippies, the punks, the pop lovers, tell the busy business people, tell the children, tell the family peeps, tell meat eaters, tell vegans, tell people who dabble in both camps depending on their moods, your mummy friends, your daddy friends, your single friends, your neighbours, Karen at work, Sue next door, Paddy over the road.
If it weren't for this place, I wouldn't have met you (virtually or in person) & I wouldn't have found my tribe or gained the confidence to be myself that that tribe has facilitated. Having lived several decades, that really is priceless & I know that there are more of us out there, so I'm not done yet.
We're open:
Tuesday 08:30am-12:30pm
Wednesday 10am-3pm
Thursday 10am-4:30pm
Friday 10am-4:30pm
Saturday 10am-4:30pm
We're down the Embankment (first right past the swans) in Wellingborough in Nene Court.
We have food, cleaning, personal hygiene & home products, banter, hugs, soap boxes upon which to stand, lots of local, lots of organic, lots of yummies & the coolest customers in the actual whole world.
We've got workshops too, about the environment & wellbeing! I mean, we're a triple threat! https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/kerry-48000315543
Thank you,
Kerry (& Alice on holiday)
